Prof. Neal Tai-Shung Chung is a Jade Mountain Chair professor at Graduate Institute of Applied Science and Technology, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), Taiwan. Before joining NTUST, he was a Provost’s Chair Professor at the ChBE dept of National University of Singapore in 2011-2021. His research focuses on polymeric membranes for clean water, clear energy and pharmaceutic separation. He became a Fellow in the Academy of Engineering Singapore in 2012. He received the Underwood Medal from IChemE (Institute of Chemical Engineers, UK) for exceptional research in separations and Singapore President’s Technology Award in 2015. He was ranked as No. 6th in Chemical Engineering worldwide by “the top 2% scientists in the world” published by Stanford University in both 2022 and 2023. Dr. Junfa Zhu is currently a chair professor in National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (NSRL), University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from USTC in 1999. After several years working in the Institute of Experimental Physics, Johannes-Kepler-Universität Linz, Austria, Lehrstuhl für Physikalische Chemie II, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany and Department of Chemistry, University of Washington, WA, USA, he returned to USTC in December, 2006, and become a professor at NSRL, USTC under the support of “Hundred Talent Program” of Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests mainly focus on in-situ studies of surface chemistry, surface and interface structures and properties of functional materials using advanced surface science techniques including synchrotron radiation techniques. He has published more than 460 peer-reviewed papers including Nature Commun., J. Am. Chem. Soc. and Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. with more than 39000 citations. His current H-index is 102. He serves as the editor of Surface Science Reports, the editorial board of Surface Science and Acta Phys. -Chim. Sin. In addition, he is in charge of two soft X-ray spectroscopy end-stations in the synchrotron facilities in NSRL.

Prof. Tanaka worked for TERUMO Co. (Leading Medical Devices Company in Japan). In 2000 he moved to Hokkaido University and in 2007 he moved to Tohoku University. His developed medical devices are commercially available in the global clinical market as a world share No.1. He was a Visiting Scientist, at Dept. of New Materials and Biosystems, Max-Planck-Institute (2008-2009). In 2009 he was awarded a full professorship at Yamagata University. Since 2015, he has been at Kyushu University as a full Professor. Thus far, he has published over 220 papers in peer reviewed journals (H-index 60), 50 book chapters, 135 others, 250 patents, over 100 invited talks at International Conferences including Society for Biomaterials Annual Meeting. He is a Fellow of Biomaterials Science and Engineering and an executive director of the Japanese Society for Biomaterials, and a committee member at IUPAC polymer division, and organized many international conferences as an international advisory board. Paulo C. DE MORAIS, PhD, was full Professor of Physics at the University of Brasilia (UnB) – Brazil up to 2013, Appointed as UnB’s Emeritus Professor (2014), Appointed as Guest Professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology – China (2011), Visiting Professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) – China (2012-2015), Appointed as Distinguished Professor at Anhui University (AHU) – China (2016-2019), Appointed as Full Professor at Catholic University of Brasília (UCB) – Brazil (2018), Appointed as CNPq-1A Research Fellowship since 2010. 2007 Master Research Prize from UnB, 2008-member of the European ERA NET Nanoscience Committee, Member of the IEEE-Magnetic Society Technical Committee, Senior Member of the IEEE Society, 2012 China’s 1000 Foreign Expert Recipient, and 2012 Academic Excellence Award from Brazilian Professor’s Union. He held two-years (1987-1988) post-doc position with Bell Communications Research – New Jersey, USA and received his Doctoral degree in Solid State Physics (1986) from the Federal University of Minas Gerais – Brazil. He graduated in both Chemistry (1976) and Physics (1977) at UnB. Professor Morais is member of the Brazilian Physical Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – IEEE. He has served as referee for more than 50 technical journals, takes part of the Editorial Board of more than 15 technical journals and has conducted research on nanomaterials for over 40 years. He has delivered about 190 Invited Talks all over the World. He is known for his research in preparation, characterization and applications of nanosized materials (magnetic fluid, magnetoliposome, magnetic nanoemulsion, magnetic nanocapsule, magnetic nanofilm, magnetic nanocomposite, nanosized semiconductors, polymeric dots, carbon dots, and graphene quantum dots). With more than 500 published papers in peer reviewed journals, more than 13,000 citations, and 16 patents, He has appeared in recent World ranking of top scientists, such as 2020-Stanford, 2022-Research.com, 2023-AD Scientific Index, and 2023-Research.com.

Prof. Blaž Likozar is a head of the Department of Catalysis and Chemical Reaction Engineering at the National Institute of Chemistry (NIC), leading the program “Chemical Reaction Engineering”, as well as numerous research projects (15 H2020 / 50 in Horizon Europe alone). His expertise lies (among others) in heterogeneous catalysis materials, modelling, simulation and optimization of process fluid mechanics, transport phenomena and chemical kinetics. He worked at the University of Delaware in 2014–2015 as a Fulbright Program researcher. He has authored >360 articles, was cited >10000 times, having a h-index of 58. He is also involved in many industrial projects, amongst others, with Total Energies, Evonik Industries, UPM, Novartis, Carbon Recycling International… He is a recipient of Pregl and Zois awards.

Nick Quirke is Professor Emeritus of Chemical Physics at Imperial College, London. His interests include theoretical research in the general area of nanomaterials with particular interest in their interaction with biological interfaces and with polymeric insulators. This fundamental research finds application in toxicology and in power engineering. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Editor-in-Chief of the international Journals, Molecular Simulation, and the Journal of Experimental Nanoscience. He received the 1998 Royal Society of Chemistry Medal for Thermodynamics and was Royal Society / Kan Tong Po Professor at the University of Hong Kong for 2003/2004. He was awarded the 2006 NSTI Fellow Award for Outstanding Contributions in Advancing Nanotechnology and in 2013 a Yangtze river professorship ship at Xi’an Jiaotong university and was appointed adjunct professor at BUCT. His career has included leadership positions in both academia and industry. He was Principal Research Associate at BP. From 2006 to 2011 he was Vice President and Principal of engineering and science, University College Dublin.

Dr. Yaohua ZHU graduated from the North-Eastern University of China in 1965. Since then he has been working continuously in research institutes and universities for over forty years, majoring materials science and engineering (phase transformations and advanced processing of alloys and semiconductors). He received a degree of Doctor of Philosophy in metallurgy and materials science in 1983, and was conferred a higher doctor degree of Doctor of Science in applied science and engineering, in 2006, in The Aston University, UK. Over 114 peer reviewed journal articles and 4 books, constituting systematical and original researches have been published covering various aspects of physical metallurgy. His recent researches focus on electropulsing induced phase transformations and their effects on electrical, optical and thermal properties of thin films of transparent conductive oxides and thermo-electric semiconductors.

Chang-Hwan Choi is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology. Dr. Choi received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2006, specializing in MEMS/Nanotechnology. His research perspectives have centered on the fundamental understanding of micro/nano-scale interfacial phenomena and the development of scalable micro/nano-manufacturing techniques that can allow the scientific studies of micro/nano-mechanics and the broad applications of micro/nanostructures, ultimately targeted for the engineering of multifunctional/adaptable surfaces, devices, and systems for multiscale civil/military/energy applications. He is a recipient of the 2010 Young Investigator Program (YIP) award by the US Office of Naval Research (ONR). His early career success was highlighted in Nature in 2010 (“From Aerospace to Navy Ships: Design for Anti-Corrosive Vessel Surfaces Earns Award for Nanoengineer”, Nature 465, 385, 2010). Choi was also selected as one of Nanotechnology Thought Leaders in 2010 by AZoNano (The A to Z of Nanotechnology). In 2015, he was awarded the Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He is a founder and organizer of the International Conference of Nature-Inspired Surface Engineering (NISE). He has served as an Editorial Board member for several journals including Micromachines and Nanomaterials. He is also currently serving as an Advisory Board member for the Journal of Colloid and Interface Science.

Dr. Pierre Hardy is a professor of pediatrics, pharmacology, physiology, and senior scientist at the University of Montreal (Canada). He received his doctorate (Pharmacology and Physiology) from the University of Montreal in 2000. During his postdoctoral research at the Institute of Medicine and Bioengineering of the University of Pennsylvania, he extended his activities to mechanosensitive molecular mechanisms responsible for the generation of microvesicles. One of the major axes of his laboratory is the study of the multimodal effects (anti inflammatory, anti-angiogenic and antioxidant, anti-senolytic and antineoplastic) of non-coding RNA and proteins as therapeutic tools using nanotechnologies and promoting their development. Dr. Hardy has published over 100 articles and continues the development of several patents.

Yang Yue received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering and optics from Nankai University, China, in 2004 and 2007, respectively. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, USA, in 2012. He is a Professor with the School of Information and Communications Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China. Dr. Yue’s current research interest is intelligent photonics, including optical communications, optical perception, and optical chip. He has published ~300 journal papers (including Science) and conference proceedings with >12,000 citations, one book, seven edited books, two book chapters, >70 issued or pending patents, >200 invited presentations (including 1 tutorial, >30 plenary and >80 keynote talks). Dr. Yue is a Fellow of SPIE, a Senior Member of IEEE and Optica. He is an Associate Editor for IEEE Access and Frontiers in Physics, Editor Board Member for four other scientific journals, Guest Editor for >10 journal special issues. He also served as Chair or Committee Member for >100 international conferences, Reviewer for >70 prestigious journals.

Dr. Bo Qu is currently an associate professor and doctoral supervisor at Peking University. He specializes in the field of organic optoelectronics (e.g., perovskite solar cells). To date, he has published over 100 SCI-indexed papers in international academic journals. Among them, more than 40 papers have been published in internationally authoritative journals such as Science, Chemical Society Reviews, Adv. Science, Small and Adv. Func. Mater., etc.
